FAQ & Care

General FAQ’s What guarantees do Bramblecrest provide? Due to the extensive range offered by Bramblecrest there are varying levels of guarantee ranging from 1 to 3 years. However if, in our opinion, a product does not withstand everyday use due to a manufacturer or material fault then we will replace or repair the defective product according to the terms of the respective guarantee. What is FSC? FSC stands for Forestry Stewardship Council. This is an independent and international organisation established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. Bramblecrest became an FSC member in 2007. Can my Bramblecrest garden furniture be left outside throughout the season? All Bramblecrest products are designed to withstand being left outside throughout the season. The materials we offer have been chosen by virtue of their durability, enabling them to endure extreme temperature variations. However, we recommend that lazy susans and any fabrics (e.g. parasols and cushions) are kept in storage when not in use. Teak How do I care for my new teak furniture? Teak is a dense hardwood with a high natural oil content. Left untreated outdoors it will gradually lighten to a silvery/grey colour. This is a popular choice and does not affect the strength or durability of the product. What if I don’t like the silver-grey colour? To maintain the original colour we recommend applying a water-based product, Teak Protector, soon after delivery. It is quick and easy to apply and will maintain the golden brown colour of your furniture. What about stains and spills? If you also want to protect the furniture from all stains and spills you can apply an additional treatment, Teak Shield. Should I treat my furniture with teak oil? We do not recommend oiling your furniture. Many ‘teak’ oils are actually refined linseed oil and were developed for use on indoor furniture. You should not use these oils on teak outdoor furniture as you run the risk of sealing in moisture leading to mould and mildew. Cracks have appeared on my furniture- is this normal? When teak adjusts to its new environment cracks can appear. The cracks can vary in size according to the ambient temperature but they will not affect the structural strength of the furniture. Should I cover my teak furniture? It is not necessary to cover the furniture. However, if you do wish to cover it then please ensure that it is well ventilated. If the furniture is not allowed to breathe then it can sweat and mould spots can occur. My furniture has gone black- is this normal? There are a number of reasons why the furniture can go black. The black colour can develop through general atmospheric dirt, or the use of a non-breathable cover and/ or the use of teak oil. To clean the furniture a fine grade of sand paper will remove surface residue and then we recommend an application of Bramblecrest Teak Protector. Cast Aluminium How do I care for my new cast aluminium furniture? Cast aluminium furniture requires minimal maintenance and can be left outside throughout the year. To clean off surface dirt and leaves either spray with a garden hose or use a warm bucket of water and a non- abrasive sponge. Will my cast aluminium furniture rust? No! Cast aluminium is the preferred choice of metal garden furniture due to its resilience to rusting. Can the paint work be damaged? The paint is powder coated and baked on to the surface of the aluminium. It is very well adhered to the furniture and difficult to chip or scratch. If a scratch or chip is found then we advise using touch up paint of the same colour as the powder coating. Should I treat my cast aluminium furniture? Cast aluminium furniture requires no treatment. If you would like to protect the furniture from general garden and atmospheric dirt then a cover is recommended. Woven How do I care for my new woven furniture? Woven furniture requires minimal maintenance and can be left outside throughout the year. To clean off surface dirt and leaves either spray with a garden hose or use a warm bucket of water and a sponge or soft scrubbing brush. To clean the glass table top we recommend any suitable household glass or window cleaner. Will my woven furniture rot or fade like natural rattan? No! The Bramblecrest woven range retains the aesthetic qualities of rattan but does not deteriorate in the same way. It is constructed from extruded polyethylene and is colourfast, strong and very resilient to various weather conditions. Bramblecrest woven furniture has been subjected to extreme levels of UV testing. What material is the woven furniture frames made from? Bramblecrest use a fine quality grade of tubular aluminium to construct the table and chair frames. Advantages include the fact that aluminium is lightweight, rust-free and strong. All frames are welded to ensure that no screws or bolts can compromise the stability of the furniture. How will temperature variations affect the woven furniture? The elasticity of the weave will alter according to the ambient temperature. When exposed to cold weather the weave will become stiffer and contract, and when placed in warm weather the weave will become more elastic and expand. When the weather stabilises the weave will revert to its original form. This has no adverse affect on the structural strength of the furniture. Granite How do I care for my new granite furniture? Granite garden furniture requires minimal maintenance and can be left outside throughout the year. To clean off surface dirt and leaves either spray with a garden hose or use a warm bucket of water and a non- abrasive sponge. To protect the stone from stains or spillages it is recommended that coasters and place mats are used. How will temperature variations affect the granite furniture? Granite is formed through immense heat and pressure and is naturally resilient to extreme temperatures. Should I treat my granite garden furniture? To protect the furniture from general garden dirt then we would advise the use of a cover. Proprietary stone care kits and cleaners are also available from certain manufacturers. Please carefully follow all instructions before use. Bramblecrest accept no liability with regards to the use of such products. Textelene How do I clean my textelene garden furniture? To remove dirt from a textelene product use a pressure washer at a distance of no less than 1m away from the surface. Ensure that the pressure washer is not directed towards any timber products. Alternatively a warm bucket of water and soft scrubbing brush should be sufficient. Stainless Steel How I do care for my new Bramblecrest stainless steel furniture? Stainless steel is rust free and can be left outside throughout the year. To remove any surface dirt use warm water and a non abrasive cloth. How do I maintain or restore the polished look? To maintain or restore the polished look we recommend either baby oil or a proprietary stainless steel cleaner. What grade of stainless steel do Bramblecrest use? Stainless steel grade 304 is used throughout our range due to its strength, polished look and resistance to rust.
